Welcome!
Welcome to PUSHPreschool.Org, the official homepage of
PUSH Early
Childhood Development Center. P.U.S.H.
(People Understanding Special Handicaps, Inc.)
is located in
Frankfort, Kentucky (Franklin County) and offers children, birth to age
5, with a quality educational experience, preschool, and developmental
opportunities.
Our program operates under the basic
assumption that ALL children have the capacity to learn .
PUSH offers
programs and services to both special needs children and
children developing at an age-appropriate level in a combination of center-based and home-based settings.
We work with the First Steps Early Intervention program and
Nurses
Registry to provide therapy services to children with developmental
disabilities. An important part of our playgroup and preschool
programs is to include children, with and without special needs, in the
same classroom. Special needs children show the most progress in
inclusive classrooms and all students at PUSH learn from an early age
that all people are important and valuable, as they grow and learn
together.
If you are looking for strong early
childhood
program for your child, with certified teachers, a proven curriculum,
and a nurturing and inclusive environment, than we encourage you to
contact us to schedule a visit soon!
Mission of
P.U.S.H.
The mission of our program is to assist
children in the process of being both capable and interested in becoming
productive members of society. We seek to provide a learning
environment that is conductive for all children, regardless of ability,
and to provide opportunities for children with special needs to
participate in the same learning experiences that are available for
typically developing children.
Goals of P.U.S.H.
• Operate a model comprehensive early childhood development
program designed to provide the most natural environment for learning
and therapeutic intervention necessary to allow each child to reach
his/her potential;
• Provide families with training and support needed to maximize
their child’s development;

• Promote the inclusion of children with disabilities in early
childhood experiences;
• Educate the community about the challenges faced by children
with disabilities and their families; and
• Facilitate appropriate understanding and acceptance of individuals
with disabilities.
